About Xavi Herrero:
Photographer, documentary filmmaker, and cultural manager with a solid career linked to audiovisual language and auteur photography and film. As director and founder of Street Photography Barcelona and Ibizacinefest (a qualifying festival for the Goya Awards), Xavi understands visual creation as a dynamic territory where film and photography continually enrich each other.
His photographic work has received outstanding international recognition in 2026, including:
-
Official Selection at the Off-Arles Festival with the series «Streets of Tirana» (Galerie Cezar) and installations/exhibitions in spaces such as Atelier Art Nomade or PH21 Gallery.
-
Publications in LFI (Leica Fotografie International): Awarded multiple times in the Mastershots category. Winner of several prizes in Leica Society International competitions. https://lfi-online.de/en/gallery/Xavi-Herrero-915665.html
-
Photographic Awards and Distinctions: Nominee in the Fine Arts Photography Awards (Street Photography section) and Honorable Mention in the Fotoslovo-International Photo Award, Jury and Portfolio Viewer at the IPFA Awards 2026.
-
Film Career: As a documentary filmmaker, he has won more than 10 awards at national and international festivals, including two Silver Biznagas at the Malaga Film Festival for his feature-length documentary "Moonface. A Woman in War," as well as selections at DocsBarcelona, Atlantida Film Fest, Cinespaña, etc., and two awards for cinematography for his two latest productions, "Du Vindans les voiles" (Premiered at the Malaga Film Festival) and "DOM," filmed in Varanasi.
-
His work mostly survives on the FILMIN platform.
Currently, after two trips to Dakar (Senegal) in 2026, he is working on his transmedia project “LAAMB” where he freely moves between documentary photography, short film and Photobook.
This dual role as filmmaker and photographer allows him to show the street not only as a static frame, but as a living cinematic scene: learning to anticipate movement, master visual narrative, and apply a dramatic and poetic intention to the decisive moment.
