First screenings in Ibiza within the Film and Photography Section at the 10th edition of Ibizacinefest
On February 25, 2026, the Auditori de Can Ventosa in Ibiza will host the first photography screenings included in the Film and Photography Section of the 10th edition of Ibizacinefest – Ibiza International Independent Film Festival.
As stated in our rules, in addition to the exhibition of the 25 finalists at the Galerie Art Nomade , and within the framework of the collaboration with Ibizacinefest , a special selection of 25 works will be presented in this section that the SPBC programs annually at the festival.
Since our first edition will be held in May 2026, after Ibizacinefest has already concluded, an early selection of 25 photographs will be made from all submissions received by February 1, 2026.
These works will be screened in Ibiza as an inaugural exhibition, offering visibility to the participating artists in a prestigious cultural setting.
It's important to note that this initial selection does not guarantee inclusion on the final list of 25 finalists, which will be exhibited in Barcelona between May 15 and 20, 2026, where the winners of the first edition will be chosen.
The finalist projects will also have the opportunity to be screened at Ibizacinefest 2027, regardless of their participation in the February 2026 screenings in Ibiza.
With this collaboration, the festival reaffirms its commitment to building bridges between photography and film, creating a unique space for artistic dialogue between the two disciplines.

SPBC organizes, programs, and presents the Ibizacinefest parallel section "Cinema and Photography" with the support of UNED Illes Balears. This day features the screening of 25 photographs and a documentary focusing on photography.
The next edition will feature the documentary Two Strangers Trying Not to Kill Each Other (2024), directed by Jacob Perlmutter and Manon Ouimet.
The film tells the intimate and moving story of artist Maggie Barrett , who, after fracturing her femur, is cared for by her husband, celebrated photographer Joel Meyerowitz . Faced with the fragility of life, the two protagonists embark on an emotional journey in search of serenity and reconciliation, honestly illuminating the lights and shadows of a relationship marked by the passage of time.
